Admission Requirements, Bachelor's Degree Programs

Applicants who are admitted into any bachelor's degree program (The Accelerated Bachelor to Masters Program, ABM, has higher GPA requirements) have met the following admission requirements:

  • Submit a completed application and $60 (USD, non-refundable) application fee, payable by credit card, available here by creating your own JIU password-protected account.
  • Submit evidence of prerequisite skills proficiency through one of five options:
    • Official transcript that documents an earned high school diploma and GPA of 2.0 (3.0 for ABM) from an accredited institution that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or its international equivalent).
    • Official GED transcript or its equivalent.  ABM applicants must also complete 9 credits in the BABC or BBA program with a GPA of 3.0 and then transfer into the ABM.
    • Official transcript that documents an earned associate’s degree or higher and GPA of 2.0 (3.0 ABM) or better from a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or its international equivalent).
    • Attestation of high school or GED completion and an official transcript that documents 9 credit hours or more with a GPA of 2.0 (3.0 for ABM) from a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or its international equivalent).
    • Attestation of high school or GED completion and passing scores on JIU's online assessment exams.  ABM applicants must also complete 9 credits in the BABC or BBA program with a GPA of 3.0 and then transfer into the ABM.

Note: BBA specializations of Health Care Management and Technology Services Management require that students already have either an associate's degree or certified training certificate in a related industry.

Bachelor's Degree Early Admission Program

JIU allows students in their final term of enrollment before conferment of their high school diploma or associate's degree to apply for conditional admission into a bachelor's degree program. The applicant must submit a completed application, $60 (USD, non-refundable) application fee, the early admission agreement for bachelor's programs and a transcript request release form.

Conditional and Special Circumstances Admission

Conditional and special circumstances admission is considered on a case-by-case basis by the deans of schools.
